An assertive effort was made this year.
We have accepted this area has a low rain fall, also, to get a supply of water from an aquifer is difficult and very expensive.
Therefore we have taken measures with treatments to give the trees the best chance to combat the difficult environment. More details to follow on another blog.
The harvest started after some rain and horrendous winds. The worst scenario.
Harvesting during or just after rain is not advised. The high winds make harvesting difficult as the nets (rete) blow every where.
But then the weather awaited and proved favourable, however, a lot of fruit was lost.
A long hard week of work gave us our best harvest to date.
411 kilogram of olives with a total of 95 litres. A harvest weight to oil weight of 21% was achieved which is pretty good.
